Alexander-Woodburn: LFC's hottest young talent and closest bromance

From record breaking goals to game changing free kicks, Liverpool’s youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn are storming the football world. 

The twosome are quickly becoming the hottest young players to watch, and Anfield’s newest bromance. 

2016/17 has been a very promising period for the two Liverpool youth players; seeing both lads kickstart their senior career with a spectacular goal each. 

Alexander-Arnold scored the opening goal against 1899 Hoffenheim during Liverpool’s pre-season from a sensational free kick. Whilst Woodburn shattered the Reds’ history books by becoming the youngest ever player to score for the club when he netted a beauty against Leeds Utd in 2016. 

He has continued to rise to greatness after his international debut for Wales during the World Cup qualifier against Austria on 2 September. The clash saw the 17-year-old score a sublime goal within just four minutes of coming onto the pitch. His celebration rang through the stands as Wales took the important win home.

Wales and Liverpool fans are still bustling over Woodburn’s talent and his close friend Alexander-Arnold hasn’t been short of praise either. The academy rank riser has been Liverpool’s first choice right-back for several important matches whilst Nathaniel Clyne is still out with injury.

Fans aren’t missing Clyne in the squad whilst Alexander-Arnold has been doing such an impressive job. In fact, most have forgotten about him completely. Clyne’s protege is definitely on his way to overthrowing his position from him.

A brotherly bond

LFC’s youths have developed a very close friendship since playing together for the club. The two are often pictured together training at Melwood and side by side in the stands, complete with matching suits and smiles. 

Woodburn’s latest goal phenomenon sparked a congratulatory message from Alexander-Arnold on Twitter. Despite not featuring in his own country’s international squad, the 18-year-old was more than ecstatic for his ‘brother’ to have scored such a crucial goal for his side.

  

It’s vital in any football club that players have a personal connection, but Woody and TAA are muscling in on Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino as the more iconic football bromance. 

The future for the boys

Talent at such a young age isn’t as common as it seems, but these two certainly have it and more importantly, they’re learning how to use it. 

With their entire careers ahead of them, they have decades left to flourish into worldwide superstars. With Wales teammate Gareth Bale in Real Madrid’s ear, Woodburn is closer than he thinks to becoming a global sensation. 

The offers will no doubt come flooding in for Alexander-Arnold soon, too - ripe young talent needs to be seized.

But for now Jurgen Klopp and LFC are in no mindset to let the youngsters go. The pair are an important asset to the squad and they seem to be living the dream. What could be better than wearing the famous liverbird on your chest alongside your best friend?

The only way is up for the Liverpool lads, and as their talents grow, I hope their friendship follows suit.
