The Fight for Fourth

The atmosphere around Liverpool supporters after a half-expected defeat against Crystal Palace feels like more of a dull hum than a buzz. After watching the frustrating scenes at Anfield and putting several ciders away, I joined the sea of Reds worrying about whether Klopp's lads will manage to make it to Champion's League football next season.

Despite some of our main men out for the count, Liverpool have managed to dig their claws firmly into the table and steal crucial wins to keep us in the top four. After a sneaky 1-0 away win against West Brom, it felt like Liverpool fans had unbuckled their belts a few inches and enjoyed the breathing space ahead of City, United and the Gunners.

But it wasn't long before the breath of fresh air turned back into a claustrophobic panic after ex-Red Benteke smashed two past Liverpool's ever weakening defence. It was us that were rubbing our hands together after we gained superstar Sadio Mané in exchange for elusive Christian Benteke. But with our new whirlwind man out for the season, our civil relationship with our former striker boiled down to an ex lovers' feud after he celebrated his brace with Sakho on the sideline. The very same Sakho that's still contracted to LFC.

If Jurgen wasn't fuming with you enough already, Mamadou, he's certainly not in any hurry to take you back after that faux pas.

With only a handful of games ahead, it's going to be a brutal clamber to secure fourth place and everything that comes with it - Champion's League and a generous amount of tasty new signings. With van Dijk already a likely target, I'm praying we can bag more great transfers - we still have a lot of dead weight holding us back and the likes of Clyne, Moreno, Lucas and Lovren would be high on my list for turfing out soon. Even our beloved Sturridge, injury prone and lack of passion Sturridge has a warning sign around his future at the club. It's time to cut the ties and file for divorce against the dancing forward.

Liverpool need to blossom and after some harsh decisions and some tactful new signings, Premier League glory is definitely within our grasp.
