Chelsea Crowned Champions but What's in Store for Liverpool?

So the Premier League is blue once again, but this year the silverware is travelling south of its previous winners. Chelsea have bagged themselves another title after a season of truly unstoppable football, knocking Leicester off the champion's podium. Although the Foxes were quick and agile by nature last season, this year they settle for a mediocre 11th place, with sly being the only foxy trait working for them.

White hot Chelsea stormed to victory, smashing home goal after goal and toying with the emotions of Tottenham and their fans. A Premier League debut win for Spurs would've been the best bittersweet goodbye to The Lane and they definitely contended with their impeccable performance this season. But with Chelsea at the peak of their game, it wasn't to be.

Another team to cause some trouble for Conte's men were of course, Liverpool - thwarting them at Stamford Bridge and only dealing them a single point during their trip to Anfield. Against the top six teams, Klopp and his side have undoubtedly played the best football, which is surely the main ingredient to romping that title home. However, the lower half of the table proved too sticky a situation to power through and game by game, the title chances slowly burned out. But the Reds reminded the fans and the rest of the world exactly what they're really made of after a stunning 4-0 away thrashing against West Ham.

2017 started off agonisingly slow for Liverpool, with little to show for what felt like hours of laborious work - and by that I mean from the fans having to watch loss after painful loss. Since the near miss of the 2013/14 campaign, the Reds have been uneasy on their feet, stumbling at best through fixtures, trying to adapt to losing major players from the squad whilst under poor management. The loss of Gerrard and Suarez dented the team heavily, both performance and morale were at an all time low and BR left a lot of issues in his wake after he exited the club.

The Klopp Era seems to be working its magic so far though - the team has regained its fluidity and a large amount of Rodgers' deadweight has been shifted with serious talks of links to Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a fair few Bundesliga connections. With one game left it's quids in for a placing in the Champion's League and it's a two horse race for 4th.

I can barely get through my days without having heart palpitations over the upcoming games; to feel the buzz of Anfield alive with Champion's League matches is something I've been pining for. Will it be a 2005 Istanbul repeat? Something's telling me we have a while to go yet. Will we bag ourselves fantastic new signings that will help our chances of Prem glory? Yep, that's more like it. Will we even qualify? Absolutely. Let's see this season out with a bang and wave (although courteously) as we leave the Gunners and Utd behind in the dust and prepare to battle for Ol' Big Ears.
